I found a great tutorial for powerpoint on google. I think powerpoint is the microsoft tool I will use the most in my teaching career and this website is a great help. This is the link: http://einstein.cs.uri.edu/tutorials/csc101/powerpoint/ppt.html
The website includes items such as how to make a master slide with detailed directions and gives easy to understand explanations of what power point is. It explains how to get started as well as how to create and build a slide. This puts power point in easy instructions that anyone can understand.
I would like to learn more about Excel. In this class I learned a great deal of things that I had not done before but I feel like there is so much more to the program that I can still learn. I think this is a great program for the classroom because it keeps you organized and has helpful tools like doing averages and other things.
My plan is to keep praticing with new technology and keep myself up to date on things. I could also take other technology classes to help with new skills.
My dog is a mini schauzer since everyone also asks on my comments =)

Ch 8 was about security issues like hacking and such. I did not find this chapter very interesting. I'm glad I haven't had any experience with this though!
I haven't learned any new skills since I haven't had class since the last time I posted.
As usual nothing much going on. My days consist of the same thing- morning class and my puppy. He is a handful, I feel like he is my baby! One week and 2 more days til the semester is over- can you tell I'm counting down, it is in all of my posts I think!

Chapter 7 was interesting with all of the psychologists. My favorite part of this chapter was the web evaluation forms and the rubrics. These were great examples for future use in the classroom. Even though this book is not all that entertaining it does have some good ideas for future use.
I learned new skills in Excel today. I learned how to make a chart, do math in excel, and a bunch of other little things that saved me some time!
Thanks Laoz!
Only 2 more weeks of the semester left! I'm ready for a little break.. Hope everyone had a great weekend!

I thought that Chapter 6 was pretty boring. I remember, specifically in high school and now in college, teachers using the internet for the classroom. Blackboard is a perfect example. I also thought the section on using computer labs was pointless because everyone that has been to school has been in a computer lab.
New skills I have aquired...
Learning about the powerpoint quiz deal was pretty cool, I had never seen that before. I think that will be a great tool to use in the classroom... I still need to do my powerpoint though so we will see how that turns out!
Today I'm babysitting two little boys (i babysit them twice a week) Jack is 4 and a half and Wyatt is 2. They are a handful. Jack's last swim lesson is today so I get to go watch him, he is very excited. My life is pretty much school, babysitting, and my puppy right now--- I cannot wait for fall!! I like LONG semesters so I don't have a test every week!

Chapter 5 made me realize how much technology is used in the education system and that by being aware of different things to do with technology one can make the classroom interesting and fun. A teacher can use audio, video, animation and more for a presentation instead of just standing in front of the students and lecturing. I think distance learning is a great idea and I plan to use it to obtain my masters. Educational computer games are also a great way for young kids to learn new things.
I really liked the blackboard chat- I did not know we could do that. I think that is a great alternative for classes, especially computer ones. It saves time but is just as efficient.
I got back from Orlando again this weekend. It's such a long drive! I can't believe we are already halfway through with the semester, I am so ready for fall. I LOVE football season, hopefully we can win some this season.

In Chapter 4 my favorite thing was the picture of the Apple system unit on page 210 because I am obsessed with that computer. This chapter was all new to me, I know nothing about the inside of a computer or what the parts are called. It was cool to learn about the different devices like the mouse and a joystick, since at one time or another I have used those things. I also learned that output is data processed into something useful. This chapter definitely taught me new things.
Since we did not have class on Monday I haven't really aquired any new skills. Just working on the Word things we have to do for class. I hope to learn more though!
Today I had my 9:30 class then came home and played with my puppy then took a nap! Nothing too interesting going on as ususal. Heading to class now!

I learned a lot about software and the different ways it was used in Chapter 3. I new about icons, desktops, taskbars, etc but it was still a good review. I also was not really aware of the other software programs out there besides Microsoft like Unix and Linux.
A new skill I aquired was using Inspiration. I thought it was a great thing to learn and use. I plan to use it in the future for brainstorming among other things. I like to be organized!
My best friend from Maryland came to see me this weekend so needless to say my weekend was amazing! I hope everyone else had as good of a weekend as I did. She goes to James Madison University in Virginia.
